Common Questions

Q: What can I expect during our first session?

Before our first session, I will provide you with an intake packet that will include additional information about my practice and policies. The first appointment will be 60 minutes and will focus on gathering background information and getting to know you and what brings you into therapy. Our first few sessions are an evaluation period during which I will get a better sense of your needs and you will get a sense of what it will be like to work with me. Afterwards, we will talk about your treatment needs and develop a treatment plan to address your goals. If a referral is appropriate, our time together will enable me to connect you with a specific referral based on your needs.

If you are a parent looking to initiate therapy for your child or adolescent, please bring them to the intake.

If you are a parent and are in the process of separating or are already divorced, my policy is that both parents must consent to treatment.

Q: Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not work directly with any insurance companies. I collect fees directly from you. My services may qualify for full or partial reimbursement by your insurance plan, and I encourage you to contact your insurance company prior to your first appointment to determine your out-of-network mental health coverage.  I will provide you with a monthly statement of services that you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Q: How do I pay for therapy?

Payment is due at each session. I accept all major credit cards through a HIPAA-compliant payment service. My fees can be found by clicking here.

Q: How do I schedule an appointment?

Feel free to contact me to schedule an initial session. Before our first telehealth appointment, I offer a 15-minute complimentary phone consultation to get a sense of your needs, answer any questions you may have, and determine if I would be a good fit for you. If either of us believes that you would be better assisted by another therapist, I will do my best to provide a referral for you.

Q: What happens when I have to cancel?

If you need to cancel a session, I ask that you notify me within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time. Appointments that are not canceled within 24 hours will be charged the full fee. If we are able to reschedule the session within the same week you will not be charged twice.
